Numerical Simulation of Slope Stability and IgE-Mediated Food Allergy

This research community comprises two distinct bodies of work: computational modeling of geotechnical slope stability and clinical research into IgE-mediated food allergies.

The geotechnical strand focuses on finite element, discrete element, and combined methods to assess slope stability, limit equilibrium, and rock mechanics. It applies these simulations to tunnel face stability, landslide behavior, and strength reduction analysis. The allergy strand investigates food allergy, allergic rhinitis, and alpha-gal syndrome. It examines basophil activation tests, specific IgE levels, and oral immunotherapy for patients, particularly children. These two areas share no common subject matter or methodology.

The community is a minor component of silicon and germanium research, representing 0.5% of each element's tracked literature. It contains 148 silicon papers and 147 germanium papers.

There are 920 papers in total, published primarily in Computers and Geotechnics, Allergy, and the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.

Recent work includes studies on peanut oral immunotherapy, allergenicity risk assessment for novel foods, and finite-discrete element modeling of shield tunnel face stability.
