elements-live ("we", "us") is a research-attention index covering all 118 chemical elements, operated by [ENTITY]. These terms apply to everyone who uses the site, whether or not you have an account. Using the site means you accept them; if you don't, please don't use it.

elements-live measures how much scientific attention each element is receiving, and presents that as scores, histories, charts, and paper lists. Two properties of this are worth stating plainly, because they shape what the service can honestly be used for:
Some features need an account. You may register with an email address and password, or through GitHub or Google. You agree to give an accurate email address, to keep your credentials to yourself, and to tell us promptly if you think someone else has got into your account. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
Email verification is required before you can sign in. One person, one account — accounts created in bulk, or to work around tier limits or referral rules, may be closed.
The Personal plan is $20 per month, billed monthly and renewing automatically until cancelled. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any taxes that may apply to you.
You can cancel at any time from your account, through the billing portal. Cancellation stops the next renewal — your paid access continues until the end of the period you've already paid for, and we don't pro-rate partial months. If something has genuinely gone wrong, write to billing@elements-live.com and we'll deal with it sensibly.
If we change the price of a plan you're on, we'll give you notice before it takes effect so you can cancel first. If a payment fails and stays failed, the subscription ends and the account returns to the Free tier.
Research packets are created using credits, granted monthly according to your tier. Credits expire 90 days after they're granted, have no cash value, can't be transferred, sold, or refunded, and aren't property. Referral credits are subject to their own caps, and we may withhold or reverse them where a referral looks artificial.
Grant sizes and costs may change as we learn what real usage looks like. We'll tell you before reducing anything you're relying on.
elements-live is built for people reading and clicking. It is not an API, and request limits are set for human browsing. Please don't:

Bookmarks, projects, notes, and the packets you generate stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them so we can run the service for you.
A shared packet link is public. Anyone who has the URL can open it without an account. We don't list those pages in search engines, but an unlisted page is not a private one — treat a shared link as published.
Bibliographic metadata is drawn from Semantic Scholar, OpenAlex, CrossRef, and CORE; element properties from PeriodicTableOfElements.org. Those records belong to their sources and remain subject to their own terms and licences.
We don't host papers. Links to full text go to publishers and repositories, whose access rules are theirs, not ours. The scores, rankings, charts, and packets we generate on top of that metadata are ours.

The service is provided "as is". We work hard on accuracy and we don't guarantee it. Coverage is incomplete, sources disagree with each other, indexing lags, and derived scores can be wrong or misleading in ways that aren't obvious from looking at them.
Nothing here is investment, financial, legal, hiring, or research-direction advice. Decisions with real consequences — allocating funding, buying or selling anything, choosing a research programme — need their own diligence. Don't let a score stand in for it.
We aim to keep the site up and the data fresh, but we don't offer a service level agreement on any current plan. Maintenance, upstream outages, and failures happen. Where a paid outage is prolonged and our fault, contact billing and we'll make it right.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, particularly section 6. Where it's reasonable to do so, we'll warn you first. You can stop using the service at any time, and can ask us to delete your account — see the Privacy Policy.
To the maximum extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost opportunities, or decisions taken in reliance on the data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it arose.
Nothing here excludes liability that can't lawfully be excluded, and if you deal with us as a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and material changes affecting paying subscribers will be notified by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version.
These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
