Advanced Cardiac Imaging and Cardiometabolic Therapy
This community focuses on the diagnosis and management of heart disease using advanced imaging technologies, alongside the clinical evaluation of metabolic therapies that impact cardiovascular health.
The work centers on cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, including the use of gadolinium-based contrast agents for perfusion and tissue characterization, and coronary computed tomography for calcium scoring. A significant portion of the literature addresses specific conditions such as heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The community also extensively studies the cardiovascular effects of sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors and other metabolic agents, linking diabetes management with cardiac outcomes. Recent procedural research highlights the safety and efficacy of pulsed field ablation for arrhythmias.
The community constitutes a substantial share of research involving thallium, accounting for 17.4% of all thallium research, and 13.1% of all gadolinium research. It also represents 11.8% of technetium research and 2.8% of vanadium research. In terms of raw volume, the community contains 5,014 papers related to gadolinium, 2,599 related to lead, and 2,560 related to sodium.
The community comprises 52,492 papers, published predominantly in the Journal of Nuclear Cardiology, the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging.
Recent work includes large-scale safety studies on pulsed field ablation for atrial fibrillation, comparative trials of metabolic therapies like tirzepatide and dulaglutide in diabetes, and clinical guidelines for the management of atrial tachycardia.
